Our Story

Our Story

Born from the mountains.
Built for real seekers.

Vairagya Yatra didn’t start as a business idea. It started as a feeling — that the mountains deserved to be experienced with more depth, more silence, and more honesty.

The Person Behind It

A trekker first.
A guide by calling.

I didn’t set out to start a trek company. I set out to find something real in the mountains — and somewhere along the way, I realized that the best moments I had were never the summits. They were the silences, the conversations by the fire, and the unexpected connections that happened on the trail.

After years of trekking Uttarakhand’s lesser-known trails — not as a tourist, but as someone who kept going back — I saw a gap. Most companies were selling destinations. Nobody was selling the journey itself.

Vairagya Yatra was born from that gap. The name means “detachment journey” — a reminder that the best treks strip away the noise and bring you back to something essential.

How It Began

The Journey to Starting Vairagya Yatra

🏔️

The First Trek That Changed Everything

A solo trek through the Garhwal Himalayas — no plan, no group, just a trail and silence. That trip made it clear that the mountains were not a destination. They were a teacher.

🔥

Campfire Conversations

Trek after trek, the pattern was the same — the most meaningful moments happened around the fire at night, not at the summit. People opened up, slowed down, and became themselves again.

💡

A Different Kind of Trek Company

After seeing what crowded, rushed treks were doing to both people and mountains, the decision was clear — build something small, intentional, and honest. No mass groups. No tick-box summits.

🌿

Vairagya Yatra Is Born

With small groups, handpicked trails, and a commitment to depth over volume — Vairagya Yatra began leading journeys for people who wanted more than sightseeing. The response was immediate and personal.

What We Stand For

Our Core Beliefs

Every decision we make — from group size to trail choice to evening conversations — comes from these four beliefs.

🤫

Silence Is Sacred

We don’t fill every moment with activity. Some of the most powerful experiences on our treks happen in stillness — and we protect that.

👥

Small Is Intentional

We cap groups at 12–15 people. Not because we can’t handle more — but because real connection doesn’t happen in crowds.

🌱

Leave It Better

We carry out what we bring in, support local communities, and choose trails where our presence does more good than harm.

🧭

The Journey Is the Point

We don’t measure success by summits. We measure it by what people feel when they come back down — changed, rested, and more themselves.

Why We’re Different

We’re not a tour operator.
We’re trail companions.

🗺️
Handpicked Trails

We don’t run treks just because they’re popular. We run treks we know deeply — where we can take real responsibility for your experience.

🍲
Real Food, Real Care

Hot meals, proper nutrition, and enough rest — because a good trek is built on basics done well, not on pushing people past their limits.

🌙
Evenings That Matter

No phones, no rush — just the fire, the stars, and conversations that people still remember months later.

🙏
Respect for the Mountains

The Himalayas are not a backdrop for Instagram photos. We treat them — and the communities who live there — with the respect they deserve.

“Vairagya — detachment — is not about leaving everything behind. It is about being so fully present that nothing else matters.”
