More than trekking — a journey into the Himalayas and within yourself.
Vairagya Yatra was born from a deep love for the Himalayas and the spiritual energy of Uttarakhand. We are not just a trekking company — we are a community of mountain lovers, explorers, and seekers who believe that journeys in nature transform the soul.
The name says it all. Vairagya — the beautiful Sanskrit concept of detachment, of letting go of what weighs us down. Yatra — a journey, a pilgrimage, a moving forward. Together, they describe exactly what happens when you walk into the Himalayas: you leave behind what you don't need, and discover what was always there.
We are a small, local team — born and raised in Uttarakhand — and that is our greatest strength. We don't show you the Himalayas from a brochure. We take you to the places we grew up in, the trails we know by heart, the temples our families have visited for generations.
Every decision we make — from trail choice to group size — comes back to one belief: the best Himalayan experience is an authentic one.
Our guides grew up in these mountains. They know the terrain, the weather, the culture, the hidden viewpoints, and the emergency routes — knowledge that can't be learned from a textbook.
We blend adventure with spirituality. Our routes pass through ancient temples, sacred lakes, and Himalayan paths that carry thousands of years of devotion. These are pilgrimages as much as they are treks.
We cap every batch at 12–15 people. This means personal attention, a quieter trail, a safer experience, and the kind of meaningful conversations that only happen in small groups around a campfire.
The mountains are not ours to keep. We follow strict no-trace principles, support local communities, and actively discourage single-use plastics on every trek we run.
Vairagya Yatra started not with a business plan, but with a problem: our founders kept taking friends and family into the mountains and watching them be transformed by the experience. They would return to the city different — calmer, clearer, more themselves. And they kept asking: why don't more people have access to this?
The answer, they realised, was that most trekking companies were either too expensive, too commercial, or simply too disconnected from the land. Big bus tours. Crowded trails. Guides who had memorised a script rather than lived the mountains. The authenticity was missing.
"We didn't want to run another trekking company. We wanted to give people the same experience the mountains gave us — one that changes something in you."
So Vairagya Yatra was built differently — from the ground up, with local knowledge at its core, small groups as a non-negotiable, and spirituality woven into every trail. We chose routes that most companies ignore — the vast meadows of Panwali Kantha, the remote sacred lake of Kaagbhusandi, the ancient Shakti Peetha of Chandrabadni. Places that still carry their original wildness.
We are registered with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, and Uttarakhand Tourism. But beyond the paperwork, what we carry most proudly is the trust of every trekker who has walked these mountains with us.
A small team with deep roots in Uttarakhand. Every one of us has grown up with these mountains as our backyard.
The heart behind Vairagya Yatra. Rishabh's deep love for the Himalayas and belief in transformative travel shaped everything we do.
The backbone of every trek. Reyansh ensures that every journey runs smoothly — from permits and transport to camp setup and safety.
Born in the Garhwal hills, Shubham knows every trail, every seasonal change, and every hidden viewpoint that makes our treks special.
First-aid trained guides, pre-trek safety briefings, and emergency protocols on every single trek. No exceptions.
What's in the price, what's not, what to expect on the trail — we tell you everything upfront. No surprises.
We pack out everything we bring in. We support local villages. We never take from the mountain more than the experience.
We deliberately keep groups small even when we could fill more spots. The quality of your experience matters more to us than the revenue.
Vairagya Yatra is fully registered and approved by India's leading tourism and mountaineering bodies.
